★★★★★

“I searched desperately for a drawer lock that would keep my little one out that was magnetic. I tried several options but do to the drawer construction none of them worked. I wanted the magnetic aspect so the drawer would not open very far. The QDOS was perfect and makes installing at varying degrees easy. These work perfectly!” –Georgea Thompson, Amazon

FAQ

+ How strong is the adhesive on this lock? Will it keep determined kids, cats and dogs out of drawers and cabinets?

When installed according to the instructions our Adhesive Magnet Locks are by far the strongest adhesive magnet locks on the market and will withstand a pull force of at least 40 lbs. This is way more force than a child can exert, so yes it will keep pets out as well.

+ Will the adhesive come off easily when I want to permanently remove them?

When you remove our Adhesive Magnet Lock, the foam that is in between the two surfaces with the adhesive will actually break, which is exactly what it is supposed to do. You can then use your finger to roll back the adhesive tape. Any remaining adhesive residue can be removed with a solvent type adhesive remover. This is a huge advantage if you’re renting your home.

+ Can I leave it unlocked?

Yes you can, but we are not fans of an easy on/off switch on magnet locks, as it’s way too easy to forget and now you have defeated the whole purpose of having the lock in the first place. However, you can remove the whole magnet lock from the mounting plate if you desire. Our recommendation is not to do this unless you need to have the drawer or door unlocked for an extended period of time.

+ Will it fit my cabinets?

Our Adhesive Magnet Locks are specifically designed to be easy to fit and install in standard Framed Cabinets, which constitutes about 90% of all US cabinets. However, the Adhesive Magnet Lock will not fit in a Frameless Cabinet, also called Euro Cabinet, or cabinets with completely inset drawers and doors that make the front surface completely flush.

+ I have double cabinet doors under the sink, do I need one for each door?

There are two types of double cabinet doors. Most common is just standard doors, but some cabinets have overlapping doors. For the overlapping doors you would only need one Adhesive Magnet Lock to lock the door that overlaps the other. For standard cabinet doors, we offer two options: one Magnet Lock on each door, or our Adhesive Double Door Lock, which is a quick and easy way to open and lock both doors at the same time with one hand. The patented ZeroPinch™ design eliminates any movement and possible finger pinch gaps between the doors.

+ What is the Perfect Installation Tool?

Installing locks and latches in drawers and on doors is usually a tricky process, as you have to get the parts to line up perfectly in order for them to lock properly. We have taken the challenge out of this with the help of our patented Perfect-Installation Tool. This tool takes all the measuring and guess work out of lining up the parts correctly.

+ How do I know where the lock is on the inside in order to open with the magnet key?

It only takes a few days of use and it will become second nature to know where the locks are. To help in this process we have small training stickers included. Simply slide the magnet key to find the location that opens the lock, which is just above where the magnet lock is on the inside, and put a sticker there to help you find it in the beginning. If possible, it helps to place all magnet locks in the same location for all cabinet doors and drawers.

+ How strong is the magnet key?

It’s strong enough to work through 1.5” thick wood, which is plenty to work through the thickness of a normal drawer front and the drawer box.

+ Can you open it without using the magnet key?

You cannot open our Adhesive Magnet Locks without using the magnet key. If anybody forcefully tries to open it, they will either damage the hardware on the cabinetry or destroy the magnet lock, even though that takes over 40 lbs. of force.

+ Where do I store the magnet key?

Each magnet key comes with an adhesive storage disc that you can place in a convenient location out of reach of children. Remember that the magnet lock will be effective to keep even older children out, but you must keep the storage key “hidden” as long as possible.

+ Can I buy extra magnet keys?

We currently do not offer extra magnet keys at our retail locations. Contact our Customer Care team and we’ll be happy to help you.

+ What is the dual depth SureCatch?

Our Adhesive Manget Locks can either be mounted on the inside of the drawer front or on the drawer box, the frame that makes up the drawer. This depends on the construction or size of your drawer. Usually on shallow drawers, you will mount it on the drawer box, while on deeper drawers it will be mounted on the drawer front. If not addressed, this leads to different size openings and can easily create an unsafe gap that is too big and allows a child to reach inside. To offset this we use our patented SureCatch™, which has two catches at different depths to create the same safe opening.

+ When would I need to use a screw?

There are two different locations inside a drawer to attach the latch to, either on the drawer box or on the inside of the drawer front. However, sometimes depending on the depth of the drawer, you may need to attach the latch right on and over the edge of the drawer box. We provide a multi-position mounting plate to solve this otherwise tricky situation. It can be turned vertically so it can reach up over the edge of the drawer box, however, this means the top part of the adhesive has nothing to attach to and in order to be on the safe side, we suggest that you add a screw to securely hold the mounting plate in place.
